Acer palmatum 'Trompenburg'

Acer Palmatum 'Trompenberg'

One of the best Japanese maples for sunny positions, Acer palmatum 'Trompenburg' is a medium sized upright tree reaching around 12 ft - 20 ft depending on conditions.

This is a deciduous tree originally from China and Japan, it does grow well in full sun in the cooler zones, however in hot climates we still suggest a position where it recieves some shade in the afternoon to prevent leaf scorch. It is anoth maple well suited to growing in containers, and is also used for bonsai.

Used as an ornamental feature tree, it has attractive deep purple foliage that turnsto a red in summer and keeps its color well into fall, a brilliant crimson in Fall. (see picture right) A fairly erect or upright habit this is a tree well suited to smaller gardens.
